I am really pissed right now. In the past 2 hours I was trying to play GTA 4, but all I got was a bucketful of frustration.
The highlights:

* You are “strongly encouraged” to create a Rockstar Social Club account even if you don’t want to use any of the online features. By “strongly encouraged” I mean that you have to click through 4 popups warning you about the inconveniences of not having a SC account. Every time the game starts. No “Don’t show this message” or “Automatically play offline". No. Just keep clickin’.

* You need a windows live account to be able to save your game. o_O

* The LeftMouseButton and RightMouseButton can not be remapped to forward/backward movement. Yeah, I know, it is a pretty exotic layout, computer science has not yet advanced to a point where full remapping of controls is available to the players… wait… I played DukeNukem3D like this in 1996.

* After abandoning the mouse/keyboard combo, I tried to set up my game controller. For controllers, there is no customization. At. All. Most of the buttons are recognized, but not all. So now I can do everything, except accelerating.

* It is slow compared to how it looks. The framerate on medium settings is around 35 fps in the benchmark. It’s just as fast (slow) as Crysis, but that game looks way better.

Bottom line: This port is quite a disappointment, in spite of the recent patch which helped none of the mentioned issues. So I have a free GTA 4 if anyone’s interested.

Now I move back to Fallout 3 (using the RMB ).
