I’ve made two flash panels for Photoshop CS4 to speed up my workflow: less shortcut memorizing and menu digging, more clicking on colored buttons.
(They also deprecate the AutoIt based MyToolbar.)
This first one is meant to sit at the top of the Photoshop window, just after the menu/tool options strip.
The second is rather big because it was made for a secondary monitor.
The latest version of the panels can be found here: MyPSPanels.zip
Extract the two directories in the archive to your PhotoshopCS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\ directory.
The *.jsx files are Photoshop export scripts, made by James Deschenes.
They provide a one click export of the currently selected layer(-group) to PNG/TGA, using its name.
It’s recommended to install the scripts, so the related buttons will work: Just copy them to Presets/Scripts/ in your Photoshop directory.
The “FForge” button won’t work unless you install FilterForge.
Finally, restarting Photoshop and start the panels from the Window/Extensions menu.
MyPanel will maintain its ideal size but MyPanelPlus won’t, so you might need to adjust its size to look properly.
Troubleshooting and known problems
- I have to open the panels every time I start Photoshop.
Save your workspace while custom panels are open to make Photoshop remember them.
- MyPanel doesn’t show which tool is actually in use. (Tool buttons doesn’t stay down.)
It’s a known problem. I might fix it sometime.
- MyPanelPlus shows the wrong tool highlighted.
If you pick a tool not from MyPanelPlus, then it will fall out of sync. It’s due to a
shortcoming of Adobe Configurator, maybe its next version will fix it.
